If you have questions about sidewalk replacement, please contact City Hall at (719) 784-4848.
The City of Florence has developed a sidewalk replacement program for residential and commercial properties.
The City and property owners will share the costs and sidewalk replacement work tasks along the following guidelines:
Residential properties: The City will remove the bad sidewalk sections and the shallow supporting soil, and load /haul /dispose of the removed materials. The City will replace and compact the supporting gravel base. The property owner is responsible for providing the concrete and labor to replace the concrete sidewalk to current City Standards.
Commercial properties and uses: The City will remove the bad sidewalk sections and the shallow supporting soil, and load /haul /dispose of the removed materials. The Property owner will provide, replace, and compact the supporting gravel base, generally 6-inches, and provide the concrete and labor to replace the concrete sidewalk to current City Standards.
Special sites requiring engineering and complex construction will require contract cost sharing between the property owner and City.
The Sidewalk Replacement List shows homes and businesses that have applied to have their sidewalks replaced. The Department of Public Works is using these as a first-come-first-served guideline for replacements, but the order is subject to the discretion of the Public Works Director when mitigating circumstances arise.
